all we like sheep

27 October 2008 no comment

(from a previous and subsequently forgotten mobile post)

From the vantage point I now have, the image of the people of God
being like a flock of sheep is wholly different – but I never really
looked at it from a nontheistic point of view. The pastor today spoke
to the children about why sheep need a shepherd – largely because
they’re not the brightest of the links of the evolutionary chain. Why
sheep need a shepherd is because they need protection. If there’s not
a shepherd around, the wolves will pick them off.  Why? Because that’s
what wolves do to sheep. That’s always been the purpose of sheep
before humans came along. Food.

So why, then, is it good to be a sheep?
