Is there a case to be made for irrationality?

This is amazing.  I’m appalled (though not surprised), but then again I never asked myself the question when I believed this way.

Today I got a tweet (via @EveDestiny) from @DanielFlorien:
Ask God, “What is the distance from the earth to the sun?” and you get silence.  Google, however, answers instantly.

Simply everyone.

I was about to tweet the following today:
An uneducated atheist is useless.
Then, I paused.

I was about to tweet the following this morning:
: why do so many people post little phrases that mean something only to themselves which just wastes bandwidth and confuses everyone else?
Then I realized several things in succession:

Nobody wants to read that
Nobody wants to hold themselves accountable to it, let alone me
It’s practically the exact same thing I’m lamenting
As if all Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, etc.  isn’t largely internet exhibitionism, anyway (and what makes a post with “meaning” or “sensibility” any less so?)

I was working on the map of the planet tonight, calculating measurements.  I have drawn it on grid paper (made it mahself in Word), onto a matrix of 36 squares by 18.  Obviously, this is to work out the “degrees” of the sphere.  I have also been laboring under the design assumption that the squares are 720 miles each side.  This gives me a planet with a tidy circumference of 25,920 miles.  Immediately, I began to see my problem.  The longitude is only comprised of eighteen squares, for a total …

It has been exactly one month since my last post.  And, I normally endeavor to produce more output that that.  The truth is that instead of on my blog, I’ve been working on something else.
